Information for the Start of your Studies and the Individual Study Agreement (ISA)

The basis for the module registration is the ISA planning.
Students are therefore requested to keep the ISA planning up to date each semester and to compare it with the actual module enrolment on EventoWeb and to report any discrepancies immediately.

The different module categories

Specialisation modules - Modules provided at the ZHAW

  • These modules are organised by the ZHAW and held in Wädenswil. Certain lessons can also take place online.
  • For any questions about the course, you can contact the module coordinator according to the module description directly.
  • The examination dates are communicated by the corresponding lecturer.
  • All information about the lectures in the specialisation modules can be found here in the ZHAW Moodle platform.
  • The detailed timetable is published approx. 4 weeks before the start of the semester

Cooperation modules - External modules in cooperation with the BFH, HES-SO and FHNW

  • Core Competences
    • Business and Data
    • Central Teaching online on Fridays
    • Decentral Teaching at the ZHAW in Wädenswil on Tuesday mornings
  • Cluster-specific modules:
    • The cluster-specific modules are offered in a mix of presence and online days.
    • Detailed information will be published on the Moodle page four weeks before the module starts
  • The entry requirements of each module are detailed in the module descriptions. Students should study them carefully and must do the preparatory work before starting the module. In some cases, the amount of preparatory work is considerable (e.g. Handling and Visualisation of Data as well as all summer and winter schools) and students have to organize their studies accordingly
  • Please be aware that some modules have an entry test which counts for the final grade of the module.
  • All details about the cooperation modules are published on the MSLS Community Centre
  • You will receive the enrolment key for your registered modules by email to your student email account four weeks before the start of each module.
  • The examination schedule for the cooperation modules is published on the MSLS Community centre four weeks before the start of the semester.

Master’s Thesis

  • The Master's thesis takes place independently of the other modules and in coordination with your supervisor
  • The Master's thesis consists of 3 milestones (ACLS) respectively 4 milestones (FBI, PB, CLS)
  • The assignment/problem definition and submission of the Master's thesis are handled via the Complesis tool. You will receive access to the tool from us in due time (approx. 1-2 months before the start of the semester in which you will submit your Master's thesis/your last Milestone).
  • The last milestone for the Master's Thesis stands for the submission by the officially scheduled deadlines.

Framework timetable

To give you a first impression of the structure of the programme, a framework timetable for the whole degree programme is shown below. Please note that this is only an example and is not binding:

Your Individual Study Agreement (ISA)

The digital Individual Study Agreement (ISA) is a planning tool. It is used to define the modules the student will attend in each semester, as well as the skills which are to be acquired during the degree programme. In the tool the study is planned from the beginning to the end. The ISA is a definitive and binding agreement. However, changes are still possible every semester.

Before you start with your planning read the User Guide for the digital study planner carefully. In the following overviews you will find the modules offered for each specialisation. Please note that in case of discrepancies, the appendix to the study regulations and the information on the current module descriptions always apply.
